In all complete honesty when it comes to Acer laptops, the keyboard might just be their Achilles heel. They could be nice to operate with, but only for a short time. After a while, they are bound to give you issues. These problems extend from immobile keys, short circuitry, wrong characters display, to all the way to complete malfunction.
For Acer laptops, keyboard malfunction is an extremely common issue. And to all and everyone’s best interest, the titular brand too is aware of its shortcomings. The factors that affect the titular component are not always external, but internal too.
The factors that affect the input device are:-
Spilling: Liquid coagulates onto the circuitry, complete rendering the functions moot.
Soft keys: Acer laptops are known for their firm, but soft input registration. But impatience wait for no strength. To this end, constant and reckless usage is a curse on
the keyboard’s structural integrity.
Contamination: There is a well-known saying; “a microchip could be obliterated by a single grain of sand”. This is applied about ten folds on the titular component. Simple dust contamination could very well render the device completely useless. This could happen due to an extended period of exposure to the device.
Missing keys: There is a huge trade-off between the structure sustainability of the keys and their softness. To that end, dislodged keys are common too.
But all hope is not lost! Here at Acer Service Centre, we have built up a self-help guide that could aid you in fixing the titular part without the need of any outside help.
Steps for fixing the keyboard issues:
Step 1: the first few steps entail opening up the keyboard. It is a pretty layman job, but if you are uncomfortable, do not be ashamed to ask for assistance. You first have to take out the battery. To do that, flip the laptop, release the battery lock and then pull up the power unit itself.
Step 2: Here, you have a check to see if the retaining chip of the damaged component is salvageable. To that end, turn the laptop back-> Open the lid -> check the keyboard and see if the retaining chip is still harboring inside. If it is, then you are in luck; otherwise
Step 3: There is a limited but substantial hollow space beneath the keyboard. If by an off-chance, the retaining chip wasn’t on the surface, you might have to use tweezers to pull it out of the hollow space. After that is done, you have to land this component back inside the hole and fix it in a proper fashion.
Step 4: Once the retaining plastic chip is set, line them up in the holes and prime them to fix the requisite keys.
Step 5: Once the chip is primed, push the missing key into the hole. A subtle “click” sound tells you that the component is in its rightful place.
Step 6: the previous procedure was if anyone block needs re-attachment. Now, for the new scenario, you really might have to be careful and precise. Flip the device->remove the three small screws that hold the keyboard in its place->Pull the indicator strip, and then pop it upwards. The titular component could be removed properly.
Step 7: Now, you have to disconnect the input device from the motherboard itself. To do this: lift up the removed keyboard towards you -> Follow the back ribbon to the motherboard and then disconnect it.
Step 8: If the damage was too much, the previous step is perfect to prime the Acer laptop for the keyboard replacement. But if only internal contamination removal is your concern, then use a light blower to remove the dust.
The given steps are fairly easy to comprehend. But still, if you are having any issues then do not be hesitant in calling Acer Laptop Repair Centre Melbourne 1800-431-354.
